Job Description
We are hiring for an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for MEP systems for all our Data Centre projects across the EMEA region. This includes analyzing project documents, preparing quantity take-offs and developing detailed estimates that contribute to successful bidding and project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare MEP estimates.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates based on project phase.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain and update unit cost databases and historical pricing.
- Prepare and present estimate summaries and value engineering options.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and scope.
- Coordinate with other estimating team members to develop complete project estimates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field trade qualification/experience (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in estimating MEP systems in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, materials, and construction methods.
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with BIM and 3D modelling for take-offs.
- Familiarity with green building standards (e.g., LEED).
- Working knowledge of local building codes and industry standards.
- Data analysis skills (benchmarking, options cost comparison, etc)
