Packaging Designer develops innovative, cost effective, and structurally sound packaging containers, by:
· Gathering project data from sales colleagues, customers and project managers
· Creating dies in the Computer Assisted Design (CAD) program
· Soliciting and incorporating customer feedback
· Creating prototypes for customer approval
A Structural Packaging Designer's job is to create and improve the physical structure of packaging for consumer goods, focusing on robustness, cost-effectiveness, and ease of manufacturing. They collaborate with various departments to ensure designs are functional and manufacturable.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and Development:
Develop structural corrugated designs for various transit packaging requirements according to customer needs.
· Prototypes and Testing:
Lead the design process from brainstorming to creating prototypes, ensuring designs meet functional and aesthetic requirements.
· Collaboration:
Work closely with design teams, manufacturing, engineering, and product development to create sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.
· Material Selection:
Evaluate and optimize material choices based on customer requirements, functionality, and cost.
· Communication and Project Management:
Communicate directly with clients, manage multiple projects, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
· Technical Proficiency:
Utilize CAD software, and be familiar with packaging design principles and manufacturing techniques.
· Market Research:
Stay up-to-date on consumer and market trends, and new technologies and materials in the packaging industry.
· Problem-Solving:
Identify and address potential issues related to design, manufacturability, and functionality.
