Job Description
Principal Finance Transformation Consultant
Are you ready to take your finance transformation expertise to the next level?
At Version 1, we’re looking for a Principal Finance Transformation Consultant who wants to do more than implement systems — someone who thrives on helping senior leaders reimagine what their finance function can be. This is your chance to step into a role where you’ll shape strategy, drive transformation, and see the impact of your work ripple across entire organisations.
This isn’t just about ERP delivery. It’s about unlocking insight, enabling automation, and creating future-ready finance functions. You’ll partner with CFOs and senior stakeholders to define operating models, design modern finance processes, and guide clients through some of the most complex and rewarding change journeys they’ll ever undertake.
We’re looking for someone who brings both credibility and curiosity — a Chartered Accountant or finance leader who has led change, delivered transformation, and understands how technology, people, and process come together to create value. If you’ve been at the sharp end of finance transformation and want a platform to influence at scale, you’ll feel right at home here.
At Version 1, you’ll join one of the fastest-growing consultancies in the UK & Ireland, trusted by global brands and recognised as a Great Place to Work for over a decade. We’ll give you the freedom to lead, the support to grow, and the recognition you deserve. With profit share, a generous training budget, flexible hybrid working, and a culture that celebrates excellence, this is a place where ambitious people thrive.
If you’re ready to help shape the future of finance, let’s talk.
Principal Finance Transformation Consultant
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Partner with clients to define the business outcomes their finance function must deliver and ensure ERP and process design are aligned to these outcomes.
- Map key stakeholders and facilitate alignment around transformation objectives, articulation of vision statements and development of robust business cases.
- Define current and target operating models, including roles, process taxonomies, and enabling technologies.
- Perform change impact assessments to understand implications across people, process, and technology.
- Design future-state finance processes and roles, often aligned with Oracle Fusion Cloud’s modern best practice frameworks.
- Support clients throughout the implementation journey, guiding them on how best to adopt new processes and technology.
- Guide clients in shifting their finance function from being dominated by operational processing to one focused on delivering insight and strategic value—enabled by streamlined workflows and automation.
- Write and secure agreement on change strategy and communication strategy documents to support stakeholder engagement and adoption.
- Provide thought leadership on emerging finance technologies, including AI, RPA, and advanced analytics, and how they can be leveraged to deliver outcomes.
- Lead change management and stakeholder engagement to ensure adoption and sustainability of new ways of working.
Qualifications
Essential Skills and Experience
You will have:
- Proven experience leading finance teams within industry, with demonstrated expertise in one or more core areas such as Financial Control, Operational Processing (e.g., Accounts Payable), or Financial Planning and Analysis
- Ability to drive operational improvements and lead teams through process change, automation, and systems implementation.
- Strong understanding of finance processes and how they contribute to both operational and strategic business outcomes.
- Experience in delivering finance transformation programmes, either in-house or in a consulting capacity.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms (e.g. Oracle Fusion Cloud, Oracle E Business Suite, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft or MS Dynamics) and their role in enabling finance outcomes.
- Demonstrated capability in operating model design, stakeholder mapping, and change impact assessment.
- Exposure to automation, AI, and data-driven decision-making in a finance context.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
