ROLE PROFILE
TITLE: Project Engineer / Project Manager
REPORTING TO: Contracts Director
LOCATION: Dublin on initial contract but opportunity to work on European contracts after 6 months served with additional earning potential.
Start Date; September 2025
ROLE SUMMARY:
The role of the Engineer / PM is to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget. Central to this role is the ability to identify, communicate and resolve any activities that could impact the safe and on time delivery of a project. The role holder will also be an effective communicator up to senior levels within the Company and Client organisations. Experience working in or managing Roofing and Cladding Packages would be an advantage.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESULTS AREAS (KEY ACTIVITIES):
1. Ensure appropriate levels of labour are on site on all IRCL Contracts and ensure all operatives are fully compliant with regard to Health & Safety (H&S).
2. Procurement of materials; this will involve negotiating best prices with suppliers and ensuring they are delivered to site on-time.
3. Ensure plant & equipment is on-site when required and that it is fully H&S compliant
4. Ensure works are carried out in accordance with drawings & specification
5. Formulate and implement site inspection practices to safeguard good quality installation and finished product. This will include quality assurance plans and Inspection reports regimes.
6. Develop site specific risk assessments and method statements and update during Contract if required
7. Develop Contract programme using Microsoft Contract and ensure it is adhered to on- site, update as necessary.
8. You will be responsible for design of IRCL roofing details. This will involve attending design meetings along with Client/Architect/Main Contractor, liaising with IRCL draftsman and developing a cost effective and compliant design
9. Attend site coordination meetings along with Main Contractor / Client
10. Liaise with Contracts Manager and familiarise yourself with the Bill of Quantities in order to get an appreciation of Contract from commercial perspective.
11. Ensure incurred installation labour costs are in line with estimated costs.
12. Ensure attendance and preliminary costs are in line with estimated costs
13. Notify Contracts Manager immediately by email of any variations that arise on Contracts in order to allow a claim to be submitted to the Client/Main Contractor/Architect in a timely fashion.
14. Carry out re-measures of completed works on-site and submit to the Contracts Manager.
15. Liaise with suppliers on delivery of materials and ensure quality checks are being implemented on-site.
16. Maintain a good working relationship with both operatives and the Main
Contractor/Client
17. Ensure all works on site are undertaken in accordance with safe working practices and current Health and Safety legislation, be constantly vigilant to any actual or potential hazards, and encourage such vigilance among all site personnel
18. Safeguard the Company’s position by ensuring relevant site events are recorded and reported in writing to the Main Contractor/Client quickly and contractually. This should include daily site diaries and photographic records.
19. Set an example of the Company’s professional image at all levels of contact, and ensure similar conduct from subcontractors and supervisors.
20. Any other reasonable duties as required by the directors, management or consultants appointed by the directors
21. This job may involve some travel and unsocial hours
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
1. A construction related college degree Civil Engineering preferred.
2. At least 5 years experience in the construction sector, setting out and site experience required, must be able to read and interpret drawing specifications for roofing contracts
3. Knowledge in roofing construction methods and practices, including safety codes and requirements
4. Effective communication, supervision, and managerial skills
5. Must have a high level of computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and
Outlook. Microsoft Contract is a plus
6. Excellent IT skills
7. Excellent organisational skills
8. Strong team player
9. Current drivers licence
