We are looking to hire a Purchasing Officer on a Specified Purpose Contract.
The Purchasing Officer while reporting to the Operations Manager, is responsible for ensuring purchasing and procurement requirements for O’Carroll Engineering (OCE) are met.
General scope of role:
- Purchasing items required for OCE operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects
- Issue Purchase Orders appropriately and in line with best practice and OCE policies
- Liaise with Estimating Department to ensure all purchases are as required and any anomalies are flagged and queried prior to purchase
- Ensure accurate and appropriate stock control measures are implemented and maintained through Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
- Ensure materials are correctly and appropriately allocated to machines, stores etc.
- Refer to and understand drawings to ensure accurate purchasing of materials
- Ensure all delivery deadlines are met and where discrepancies occur, follow up with supplier
- Maintain complete traceability of all purchased items
- Maintain constant communication with various departments on the delivery of goods
- Supplier and product research ensuring OCE maintains competitive advantage
- Negotiate quotes and terms and conditions from suppliers to ensure best value is achieved
- Manage and maintain professional relationships with suppliers acting in the best interests of OCE at all times
- Maintain, review and negotiate new and existing service contracts
- Cognisance of cash flow and the implications of purchases on same
- Liaise with Accounts ensuring suppliers’ accounts are managed and budgets are adhered to
- Maximise use of internal software systems and look for opportunities to further develop software use to the benefit of the OCE Purchasing Department
- Ensure Lean Manufacturing principles are adhered to, minimising waste and increasing efficiency
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and EN1090
