A Quality Controller at dairy plant Killowen Farm ensures that Food Safety & Quality Standards are met and maintained for products.
The main responsibilities are outlined below, although this is not a limiting list and may be changed/added depending on the needs/manager's instructions:
- Work as a member of Quality Team under the direction of the Food Safety & Quality Manager to provide front line quality support to ensure all manufacturing process, materials and products are supported from a quality and compliance perspective.
- Conducting of Daily pre-start check
- Assistance with close out of internal / external non conformances
- Assisting closeout of customer complaints
- Management and rotation of sample library including conducting sensory panels and rotating retention samples
- Updating of relevant paperwork, reviewing and verifying day to day production records and reporting issues
- Monitoring important factory parameters including temperature, pH monitoring etc. Conducting Positive releases
- Liaising with external suppliers of goods and services for information
- Assist with in process and finished product sampling activities. Work with laboratory. Looking after retention samples
- Assisting with operator / staff training on site SOPs and relevant communications
- Assist day-to-day CAPA requirements by ensuring timely and effective initiation, investigation, correction and corrective actions.
- Weekly calibration of measurement equipment
- Monthly Sampling/Swabbing
- Conducting training/re-training for employees
- Organization and holding of tastings of products
- Allergens rapid testing (yogurt & cream cheese)
- Fulfilment of quality reports, questionnaires, customer’s KPI’s
- Work with COC/COA
- The ideal candidate needs to be able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
- Written and spoken English
- Preferably degree Food Science or related area. HACCP trained is an advantage
- Good communication skills and computer skills essential.
- Strong time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic
- Appetite to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Job Type: Full-time (Mon-Fri). Willingness to work in different shift pattern (from 8am to 5pm, from 6am to 3pm). In the future, the schedule may be changed in case of production needs.
Experience: Preferably one year in a Food Production environment.
