About the Role:
You're an experienced and driven compliance professional ready to take on a senior leadership position as Deputy Head of Compliance. In this pivotal role, you’ll support the Head of Compliance and help steer the firm’s compliance framework across Ireland, the EU, and the UK.
You’ll confidently step into the Deputy role, leading key compliance matters, making informed decisions, proactively managing risks, and representing the compliance function across the business. You’ll work closely with the Head of Compliance while operating with a high degree of autonomy—driving initiatives, making strategic calls, and shaping the compliance culture across our jurisdictions.
This is your opportunity to own a diverse portfolio of compliance issues, champion strategic initiatives, and help maintain a strong culture of regulatory integrity across our offices in Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy.
The role is based in Dublin and offers a hybrid schedule, giving you the flexibility to work remotely two days a week.
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Support the Head of Compliance in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the compliance strategy and framework.
- Lead the resolution of complex compliance issues with minimal supervision, ensuring timely escalation only when necessary.
- Supporting the Compliance team in monitoring regulatory developments across Ireland, the EU, and the UK, assessing their impact and ensuring timely implementation of necessary changes.
- Oversee compliance monitoring and assurance activities, including thematic reviews and risk assessments.
- Independently manage relationships with regulators and senior internal stakeholders, representing the compliance function with authority and credibility.
- Collaborate with business units to provide expert compliance advice and support on regulatory matters, both prudential and conduct risk related.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports for management committees and the Board, attending as required.
- Promote a proactive compliance culture and support training and awareness initiatives across the organisation.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating in a senior compliance role within the general insurance sector.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks in Ireland, the EU, and the UK.
- Professional qualifications in Compliance or Law are desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Highly collaborative with a proven ability to build relationships both internally and externally.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional environment.
- Spoken and or written French, German, Dutch, Spanish or Italian a distinct advantage.
