A Brief Overview
The Senior Manager of the Legal Entities Financial & Regulatory Reporting team, EMEA, manages the teams responsible for the financial, regulatory, statistical and sustainability reporting of the legal (insurance & service) entities across RGA EMEA. The Senior Manager will mainly be responsible for reviewing and/or preparing the required reports of several legal entities on a statutory and regulatory basis and other duties as assigned.
What you will do
- Manage the teams responsible for the financial, regulatory, statistical and sustainability reporting deliverables for all legal entities across EMEA
- Build strong working relationships across finance and across each of the relevant functions, including the Group centres, to ensure valid, accurate, complete and timely reporting. Strive to achieve efficient, effective and consistent accounting and regulatory reporting practices and procedures.
- Co-ordinate and prepare tailored and timely responses to various stakeholders’ inquiries across any of the deliverables.
- Understand purpose, goals and objective of the legal entities as well as the products, flow of business, accounting methodology and procedures for each entity.
- Review in detail quarterly summary of results, including explanations of variance from expectation by understanding and substantiating each trial balance (or management accounts).
- Review (or prepare as relevant) financial statements, manage/co-ordinate audits of assigned entities and review reports to entity management or governing bodies as/when required.
- Manage related Regulatory Compliance requirements across all the relevant functions for assigned entities including but not limited to the Solvency II quarterly and annual returns (QRTs, SFCR etc.) and all other regulatory requirements across EMEA.
- Contribute to the planning process at a legal entity level in partnership with Financial Planning & Analysis and review any legal entity plans required internally or externally.
- Manage the streamlining of key accounting processes for the region.
- Contribute to a robust internal control framework.
- Play a key role in strategic initiatives for the EMEA Finance team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting/Finance required
- Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) in Accounting preferred
- 10+ years auditing experience (or combined accounting and auditing experience), with GAAP reporting and general ledger application experience required
- PeopleSoft or other accounting software applications experience preferred
- 5+ years Insurance / reinsurance financial and regulatory reporting required
Skillset
- Intermediate Word, strong Excel, and basic SQL/Query skills required
- Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance and general ledger applications (e.g. PeopleSoft) required
- Advanced level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
- Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge. Required
- Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines required
- Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions required
- Complex investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills required
- Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions required
