Senior Manager, Tax
We are currently seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our diverse and dynamic team at ICON. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing the global tax function, ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations. You will lead tax planning, reporting, and audits, working in close partnership with finance and legal teams to optimise tax strategies, manage risk, and support the organisation’s commercial goals.
What you will be doing:
- Leading the global tax strategy, ensuring compliance with all relevant local, national, and international tax laws and regulations.
- Managing accurate and timely quarterly US GAAP tax reporting.
- Overseeing the preparation and filing of tax returns, including corporate income tax, VAT, and other relevant filings across jurisdictions.
- Identifying and implementing tax planning opportunities to optimise the group’s tax position and reduce liabilities.
- Monitoring legislative changes and advising senior leadership on potential impacts and appropriate responses.
- Managing tax audits and collaborating with external auditors and tax authorities to ensure effective resolution and positive outcomes.
- Partnering with internal finance teams and local advisers to ensure full compliance with tax filing and payment obligations globally.
- Supporting internal restructures, new entity set-ups, and business expansion activities from a tax perspective.
- Assisting in the preparation and defence of R&D tax credit claims in collaboration with tax managers and external advisers.
- Developing and implementing global tax policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across all locations.
- Providing practical, commercially focused tax advice to internal stakeholders across all areas of the business.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with local finance teams, external tax advisers, and relevant authorities.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the tax function to streamline processes and deliver added value.
Your profile:
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) with a strong academic background.
- 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience in a dedicated tax role, either in practice or in a similar industry role.
- Extensive experience in corporate tax, with a solid understanding of both UK and international tax matters.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage and mentor tax professionals in a global, fast-paced environment.
- Proven expertise in tax compliance, reporting, planning, and audit management.
- Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to align tax strategy with wider business objectives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence at all levels.
- Strong working knowledge of tax technology and financial systems, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external networks.
