The role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior VMware Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and supporting VMware environments and associated infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to deliver robust and scalable infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain VMware-based infrastructure solutions.
- Manage and support VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter Server environments.
- Implement and troubleshoot VMware NSX-T and vSAN configurations.
- Configure and manage iSCSI and NFS storage systems.
- Set up and maintain L3 firewall rules.
- Set up and maintain load balancing solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with business needs.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident response as needed.
- Manage physical servers, including cabling, iDRAC, iLO or IPMI configuration and firmware updates.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter Server.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware NSX-T and vSAN.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing iSCSI and NFS storage.
- Experience with load balancing technologies.
- Experience with L3 firewall configuration.
- Solid understanding of enterprise infrastructure and data center operations.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with VMware Cloud Director.
- Familiarity with storage solutions from Pure, Dell, or NetApp.
- Knowledge of VMware Avi Load Balancer (ALB) or HAProxy.
- Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 5 or 9.
- Exposure to VMware Aria Operations (formerly vRealize Operations).
- Prior experience working in data center environments.
- Familiarity with Dell R series servers e.g., R650/R660.
- Experience with Linux system administration.
- Relevant certifications such as VCP, VCIX, or VCAP are a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
