Role: Weekend Yard Worker
Location: Grace Park road, Drumcondra, Dublin 9
Hours: 20 per week (Saturday - Monday)

Job Description
We are seeking a weekend Yard Worker to join our therapeutic riding program. This role involves the care of horses as well as maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for participants with physical, emotional, or developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate is experienced with horses, reliable, and comfortable working in a setting that serves individuals with special needs.
The job will be for
Saturday 8am – 4pm
Sunday 9am – 4pm
Monday 8am – 1pm
Sundays will be sole charge of the yard looking after the horses on their day off.
Responsibilities:
Equine Care:
- Groom and tack horses according to established procedures.
- Comfortable and confident handling horses including lunging, all yard duties and a knowledge of their welfare and health needs
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of horse stalls and tack rooms.
- Ensure the horses are feed and have plenty of water
- Monitor horse health and report any concerns to the Equine Manager.
- Must be respectful, patient, and sensitive to the needs of individuals with disabilities and have an interest to work in this environment and a willingness to learn about the service and how we train our horses for their roles.
Facility Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for riders and horses.
- Assist with general facility upkeep, including cleaning and minor repairs.
- Report any faults with machinery or equipment
Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate records of feeding log and horse health.
- Assist with scheduling and organizing lessons.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with horses, preferably in a riding school or therapeutic riding setting.
- Strong understanding of horse behaviour and handling techniques.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to communicate effectively with riders of all ages and abilities.
- Physical fitness to lift and move heavy objects.
- Experience working with visually impaired individuals is advantageous.

Probation:
A probationary period of 6 months applies.
Annual leave:
Annual leave entitlement is 20 days (pro rata), plus 2 privilege days

Garda Clearance/ Police Clearance:
These will be required for all prospective employees who will undertake relevant work or activities relating to children or vulnerable persons. This will include any state outside of Ireland where the candidate has resided for a period of 6 months or more.
Pay:
Salary Scale Range € 31,291 - € 37,369 (Pro rata)
