Our customer, Dunnes Stores will go-live in August with Phase 1 of a new warehouse management system using world renowned Blue Yonder software. The operation will go through a series of changes to optimise the flow of stock through the depots and into stores across the country.
The Warehouse Planner will play a critical role in maximising the efficiency and capacity of our Dunnes depots. This role is responsible for mapping new articles, managing space allocation, and supporting key projects to ensure an optimised, well-organised warehouse environment. By enabling precise data-driven mapping and space management, the Warehouse Planner contributes to operational excellence, supporting smooth workflows and aligning storage solutions with operational needs.
As a Warehouse Planner, you will work closely with the Operations, Stock and Shipping teams to develop and maintain optimal warehouse layouts and article mapping. This includes capacity and location management, data analysis, and daily reporting on warehouse performance metrics. Flexibility is essential, as this role may require early/late shifts or weekend hours to support high-priority projects. The role is crucial to ensuring that our warehouse remains agile and capable of meeting evolving demands.
Key accountabilities:
Warehouse Layout and Stock Mapping
Map new and existing stock within the warehouse layout, ensuring efficient use of space and easy access for operations.
Measures:
Accuracy and efficiency of mapping, and optimised stock placement.
Capacity and Location Management
Oversee capacity allocation and location management to maximise available space and support operational flow.
Measures:
Effective use of warehouse space across two depots with regular capacity updates and adjustments.
Daily, Weekly, and Ad Hoc Capacity Reporting
Generate detailed reports on warehouse capacity, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
Measures:
Timely and accurate reporting with actionable insights provided to the Operations Manager and team.
Data Analysis for Optimisation
Perform data analysis on articles and product range to identify optimal storage solutions and potential space-saving opportunities.
Measures:
Identification and implementation of data-backed storage improvements.
Project and Task Prioritisation
Assist in managing on-site projects and upgrades, ensuring tasks are prioritised effectively to minimise disruption.
Measures:
Successful completion of projects with minimal impact on daily operations.
Blue Yonder Warehouse Management System (WMS) Maintenance
Maintain accurate records and configurations within the Warehouse Management System to reflect changes in warehouse mapping and capacity.
Measures:
Updated and accurate WMS data supporting real-time decision-making.
Health and Safety Compliance
Comply with health and safety standards, promoting a safe working environment and encouraging best practices within the team.
Measures:
Compliance with safety protocols and positive health and safety audit results.

Competencies:
Required:
- Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems and an understanding of warehouse layout optimisation.
- Strong data analysis skills to optimise throughput and articulate recommendations.
- PC skills, including the ability to create Excel spreadsheets, reports, and maintain databases.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively, especially in a time-critical environment.
- Play a key role in meeting and exceeding operational KPI’s.
- Knowledge of capacity planning and warehouse storage strategies.

Training and development
Wincanton, Dunnes Stores and Blue Yonder will provide full training to ensure the successful candidate has the support and skills necessary to deliver this key role.
Operational hours and shifts
The Warehouse Planner role is 40 hours, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 – this is to align the planner to core operational hours, and to office hours for Dunnes Stores Shipping & Logistics teams.
Additional shifts/hours may be required to fulfil the role at peak/key times for the operation so flexibility in working hours is a requirement.
This is a salaried, monthly paid role.
