The Role
Reporting to the Production Lead and working closely with the Production Team and the wider DBS Creative Studios Team, the AV Technician will oversee the video production function within DBS Creative Studios. This role is responsible for running studio recordings and location recordings (as they appear), and handling the post production and management of video and audio assets.
The role is responsible for effectively managing DBS’s recording facilities and engaging with staff in-person to produce content. The AV Technician will be expected to engage in the ongoing development and improvement in areas like innovation, efficiencies and the adoption of new technologies across our Creative Studios.
The Person
You are an experienced content creator that has a passion for visually stimulating video content and has a good attention to detail to ensure error-free recordings and edits. You will demonstrate an ability to work on multiple projects at their various stages, prioritising schedules and managing expectations and deadlines. You are open and eager to collaborate and learn within a team of passionate creators. You have a keen interest in emerging technologies such as AI and are comfortable in working in a busy and dynamic environment.
This exciting role offers the opportunity to help shape the future of DBS Creative Studios as we scale our content development to support the delivery of our ambitious five-year strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Post-production and file management of AV material: Ensure all recorded material is edited, organised, and stored effectively, maintaining high-quality standards for delivery.
  • Manage the DBS AV recording facility: Oversee the maintenance and operation of studio and location recording equipment, ensuring all facilities are fully functional and ready for use.
  • Work with DBS staff on recording, editing, and publishing AV content: Collaborate with faculty and staff to create professional-grade videos and other media (such as podcasts) for learning and promotional purposes.
  • Provide AV support for DBS events: Facilitate AV needs for staff days, guest lectures, seminars, conferences, and other institutional events.
  • Input into the continuous improvement of media: Contribute to the enhancement of AV workflows and adopt emerging technologies to improve efficiency and innovation.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with Learning Designers, Graphics & Animation teams, and Quality Assurance to ensure cohesive content creation and delivery.
  • Train and upskill staff: Provide hands-on guidance and training for DBS staff to improve their familiarity with recording processes and AV equipment.
Person Specification
The post holder will possess the following essential attributes.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop).
  • Experience using audio and video equipment for live recordings and in a studio environment.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Strong verbal, visual and written communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of the content creation process and technologies.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong commitment to higher education.
  • Willingness to adopt an organised but flexible approach to the work environment.
Desirable Skills
  • Graphic design experience.
  • Eperience using authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline 3 or Articulate Rise 360.
