Scope of Responsibility
Working with the Strategic Partnerships Manager to drive and deliver an ambitious community engagement and fundraising plan for Depaul across the Republic of Ireland.
Hours
35 hours per week
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an ambitious annual Community Engagement and Events Fundraising Plan, as part of Depaul’s Fundraising Strategy.
- Plan and deliver effective, exciting, and appropriate fundraising activities for community groups, schools, and colleges.
- Develop and drive Depaul’s Schools Programme, ensuring the delivery of engaging and educational presentations to schools across regions, which effectively promote fundraising objectives and inspire support and contributions from stakeholders.
- Develop and implement a community volunteer programme, working with the Volunteer Department, to scale up Depaul’s Schools Programme and community fundraising, with the objective of achieving a trained, supported, reliable volunteer base across regions.
- Maintain relationships with community fundraising networks (individuals & groups), as well as developing a pipeline of new key relationships in line with agreed objectives, creating compelling partnership proposals to effectively communicate Depaul’s mission, goals, and mutual benefits from collaboration, tailored to resonate with potential new partners and/or sponsors.
- Achieve agreed income targets within budget, at all times optimising return on investment and added-value for Depaul.
- Ensure the day to day running of community and events fundraising activity, as well as assessing the suitability and feasibility of proposed new community fundraising developments.
- Roll out and effective end-to-end management of all aspects of the full community fundraising and events calendar, including in-person and virtual fundraisers, ensuring compliance and effective risk management is in place at all times.
- Provide advice, support and encouragement to those who are engaged in raising funds on behalf of Depaul across Ireland.
- Act as an ambassador for fundraising and build awareness of the benefits of fundraising for Depaul and those we serve.
- Create all community and events content for Depaul communications channels, e.g., newsletters, e-zines, website, social media, working with the Digital Marketing Specialist to ensure online marketing plans are in place to achieve targets.
- Develop, create, design and manage all branding assets and merchandise for community fundraising events and campaigns, including internal, corporate and other events at times.
- Participate in and provide support for corporate events and activity, as required, ensuing seamless execution and fostering positive corporate partner relationships as part of the Strategic Partnerships team.
- Work collaboratively with Fundraising & Communications Management and Team to contribute to the achievement of overall fundraising strategy and targets.
- Attend and assist with co-ordination of fundraising and other events across regions, as required.
This role will involve some weekend and evening work.

Person Requirements
A third level degree in communications, business/marketing, liberal arts or another humanities subject is essential.
Minimum of two years’ fundraising experience in the charity sector.
Full driving license with use of a car is desirable.
Experience of fundraising in local communities is desirable.
Skills
- Excellent relationship management, with the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels (internal and external).
- Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, motivate, and negotiate to achieved successful outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, including content creation for various communications channels.
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
- Experience of volunteer management or track record of working successfully with volunteer groups.
- Experience or strong understanding of sales/marketing strategies.
- Proven track record of successful event management.
- Understanding of digital fundraising events and strategies.
- Advanced MS Office Skills – including Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills, in addition to experience using a CRM system, ideally Salesforce.
- Strong budget management and record keeping skills.
- Proficient in the use of graphic design packages to create impactful and engaging marketing assets, e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite
- Collaborative, solution focused, and relationship building approach to working with colleagues within own and other departments and externally.

While the line manager is specified above, this does not preclude higher level grades from directing or reviewing work or setting dotted line collaborative working relationships between same or different level positions.
