Role Overview
The Engineering Lead - MuleSoft is a senior technical leadership role responsible for designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-grade integration solutions. You will lead cross-functional development teams, provide governance and strategic direction on MuleSoft integration patterns, and act as the escalation point for technical issues across projects.
You will play a pivotal role in enabling secure, resilient, and modern API-driven architecture, helping to streamline banking services for both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Design & Development
Lead end-to-end integration solution design using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, adhering to enterprise architecture and security standards.
Ensure alignment with agreed tooling, methods, and governance processes, tailoring technical solutions based on standards.
Provide oversight on non-functional aspects like scalability, reusability, observability, and performance.
Review and approve system and component designs for critical initiatives, ensuring robust integration architecture.
Methods and Tools
Define and adopt engineering tools and methodologies for API-led connectivity, CI/CD, unit testing, and code quality.
Support and enforce peer code reviews, documentation, and development discipline.
Establish reusable libraries, templates, and patterns for integration pipelines.
Project Management Support
Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Delivery Leads to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality solution delivery.
Ensure accurate scoping, estimation, and tracking of technical tasks in Agile environments.
Contribute to post-implementation reviews and help eliminate technical bottlenecks.
Collaboration and Communication
Maintain trusted working relationships with stakeholders across engineering, architecture, security, and operations.
Act as a technical advisor for MuleSoft best practices, integration roadmaps, and platform performance optimization.
Support conflict resolution and influence design decisions across squads and partner teams.
Leadership & Governance
Provide technical mentorship to integration engineers and junior MuleSoft developers.
Participate in architecture review boards, security design assessments, and release planning sessions.
Conduct periodic assessments of team capability and SDLC adherence, updating practices to reflect current trends.
Experience
10+ Years of overall experience, 4+ years in MuleSoft with hands-on expertise in Anypoint Studio, API Manager, and CloudHub.
Strong knowledge of SDLC, API lifecycle, and agile software engineering practices.
Ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues and propose long-term strategic fixes.
Experience with version control (e.g. Git), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI).
MuleSoft Certified Developer / Architect credentials.
Familiarity with Java, REST, OAuth2, SAML, and message brokers (JMS, RabbitMQ).
Knowledge of banking or regulated industries, with understanding of compliance and risk management frameworks.
Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker) or API Gateway implementations.
