Corby Steel Fabrications is a second-generation family business with over 30 years of experience, specialising in structural and mechanical engineering. Based in Newtowngore, Co. Leitrim, we deliver high-quality steel solutions to industrial manufacturing facilities across the North West, Northern Ireland, and the UK.
As we expand, we are seeking a hands-on Engineering Working Foreman to lead production in our workshop. This is a key role for someone ready to work shoulder-to-shoulder with our team while managing and optimizing workshop operations.
The Role
You will oversee the workshop's production from planning to completion, ensuring quality and efficiency in all operations. This role is ideal for an experienced foreman who takes pride in working alongside their team while maintaining high standards of leadership, quality, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands-On Leadership: Lead by example by actively participating in fabrication and mechanical fitting tasks alongside the team.
- Streamlining Processes: Review workflows, implement efficiency improvements, and minimize bottlenecks to meet deadlines.
- Workload Management: Delegate tasks, monitor progress, and set production targets while ensuring alignment with project timelines.
- Quality Control: Inspect fabrication work at every stage, ensuring conformity to specifications and high standards.
- Reporting: Generate daily and weekly production updates for management, highlighting progress and identifying any issues.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all machinery is serviced, safe, and operating efficiently.
- Problem Solving: Proactively address production challenges and resolve them to avoid delays.
- Health & Safety: Maintain compliance with safety regulations, conduct toolbox talks, and uphold a clean, organized workshop.
Essential Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of leadership in steel fabrication, with proven experience as a foreman or supervisor.
- Technical Skills: Strong hands-on expertise in welding, fabrication, and mechanical fitting.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple jobs simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Drawing Interpretation: Proficient in reading and understanding technical fabrication and engineering drawings.
- Leadership: Strong ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Computer Literacy: Comfortable with basic computer tasks and willing to learn production software if needed.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: €40,000.00-€50,000.00 per year
