MBRYONICS is at the forefront of free space optical communications. Our product portfolio covers a wide range of emerging technologies from photonic integrated circuits to advanced optical systems and embedded software solutions. Our optical communications systems are integrated and deployed in satellite communications systems. The work is exciting and challenging and is at the forefront of the technology domains. As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated - Lean / Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer - to join our group.
The Lean / CI Engineer will initially support the design and implementation of our manufacturing processes, through process mapping, product flow analysis, line balancing, workstation design, layout optimization and capacity modelling. Initial requirements are to meet customer demand as we move into commercial manufacturing, with a capable manufacturing process.
What you’ll do
Manufacturing process design and expansion
Optimize manufacturing process using lean principles
Efficiency improvement through cycle time reduction, flow and process improvements
Embed lean principles in our day to day operation and operations culture
Value stream mapping to drive ongoing opportunities for improvement
Root cause analysis and problem solving to become embedded across operations teams
Become leader within wider production, quality, supply chain and engineering group
Project manage improvement projects
Support and educate team on lean and CI principles and techniques, to reduce waste within the process
Capacity planning and modelling, both at start up phase and looking forward to volume production
Support 5S projects, work place organisation, workplace design for quality and safety.
Initial tasks and job responsibilities
Process Mapping of current state.
Line design for early stage manufacturing .
Initial flow and line balance to support current demand.
Early stage capacity modelling and resource planning.
Support implementation of production management system to enable reporting of KPI’s, highlight issues and drive early stage improvement.
Ongoing tasks and job responsibilities
Support design and creation of high volume manufacturing capability (helping us to become a multi site manufacturing organisation).
Ownership for layouts and flow, for all aspects of manufacturing and supply chain elements that drive success for the business.
Implement lean principles across the organisation.
Bring value stream mapping and continuous improvement mindset to the wider team, and become a leader within the organisation.
Who you are
Strong understanding of complex manufacturing processes in a high energy work environment
Lean principles and tools, with experience of driving continuous improvement
Experience of six sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies
Ability to work in a developing and evolving manufacturing environment, and comfortable with the challenges that exist in a dynamic start up business
Proven ability to problem solve, and support and collaborate with the wider team on driving improvement and implementing best practices
Project management of line design, layouts, process changes and design
Multi tasking experience and ability, where several work streams may need support, working towards key milestones
Communication skills, working at all levels of the organisation. Ability to communicate with the process and manufacturing teams, and equally comfortable communicating and presenting to higher levels of the organisation
