Role Summary
We are seeking a Site Technician to support the on-site delivery of residential housing projects. The role involves assisting with technical coordination, managing RFIs and submittals, supporting Health & Safety compliance, and working closely with the site management team to ensure smooth progress of day-to-day activities. This role is suited to someone with a practical construction background who understands technical detail, documentation, and site operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Coordination
- Assist in reviewing and interpreting architectural, structural, and services drawings.
- Identify information gaps and assist in preparing and issuing RFIs to the design team.
- Maintain and update the RFI register and ensure responses are communicated clearly to relevant site staff and subcontractors.
- Support the coordination and distribution of drawing updates and design team instructions.
2. Submittals Management
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to compile technical submittals (e.g. datasheets, samples, CE markings, fire certs).
- Ensure submittals are reviewed and approved by the design team before materials are used or installed on site.
- Maintain a submittals log, monitor turnaround times, and ensure traceability of documentation.
3. Health & Safety
- Support the Site Manager and Health & Safety Officer with implementation of H&S policies on site.
- Assist in organising and recording toolbox talks, site inductions, and daily briefings.
- Help monitor compliance with PPE, safe access routes, RAMS, and lifting plans.
- Report hazards and assist with safety inspections, audits, and weekly checklists.
4. Quality Assurance & Records
- Assist with site inspections and snagging procedures.
- Help maintain QA documentation, including inspection records, concrete cube logs, and photographic evidence.
- Contribute to as-built drawings, red-line mark-ups, and final handover documentation.
5. Site Support & Logistics
- Monitor site signage, welfare facilities, and deliveries to ensure they are in place and compliant.
- Help manage site registers (e.g. visitors, permits, plant, materials) and coordinate with suppliers for material drop-offs.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of housing construction processes and site operations.
- Good knowledge of technical documentation, especially RFIs, submittals, and H&S files.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of BCAR, Building Regulations, and public works procedures (desirable).
- Competent user of MS Office, AutoCAD (basic), and document control systems (e.g. Procore, SharePoint).
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years’ experience in a site-based role within the residential or general construction sector.
- Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates.
