Role Overview:
Transway Trailer Ltd. requires a Workshop Supervisor with HGV Mechanic experience in servicing and diagnosing Heavy Goods Vehicles, specifically articulated trailers
The candidate will have a minimum of 5 years at a Workshop Controller level leading a team of workshop staff.
Undertake the repair and servicing of heavy goods vehicles with a key focus on diagnosing vehicles and ensure all work is completed safely and to the highest standards to deliver a great customer experience.
This position will include leading a team with guidance & support, driving productivity across the department while taking full responsibility of the workshop floor.
The candidate will work closely with our Managing Director and Operations Manager to achieve success and highlight any issues that need attention.
Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the workshop floor, it’s staff members and all aspects of running the workshop.
· Carry out maintenance & work on vehicles in the workshop.
· Drive productivity rates and meet key performance indicators.
· Assign & schedule work to workshop staff.
· Uphold workshop Health & Safety requirements.
· Ensure a high standard of work completed in order to deliver a great customer experience.
· Uphold company process and procedures to ensure each vehicle flows through the company correctly.
· Problem solve specific vehicle issues by exercising mechanical knowledge and industry best practice standards.
· Lead by example in all aspects of daily operations and motivate a team of people.
Control of the day-to-day workshop operations:
· Carry out Maintenance of Heavy Good Vehicles Articulated Trailers.
· Diagnose and problem solve specific vehicle issues and pass knowledge to workshop staff members.
· Complete work orders by carrying out mechanical repairs and delegating work to workshop staff members.
· Schedule and assign work to workshop staff members.
· Control the flow of vehicles in and out of the workshop bays.
· Analyse inspections and work orders to assess the accuracy of diagnostics carried out in the workshop.
· Monitor active jobs in the workshop to ensure that work is completed in the allotted time and intervene when work is likely to surpass the allotted time.
· Control any additional work not identified in the initial inspection and ensure that quotations are updated and agreed, ensuring that work is not carried out without prior agreement.
· Ensure that vehicle passes Quality Control and Pre Delivery Inspection indicators before vehicle is returned to customer.
· Carry out road safety compliance checks and identify faults in the vehicle.
· Inspect and approve workshop staff time sheets.
· See that all staff are complying with workshop Health & Safety procedures.

Experience & Skills Profile
· Ability to work in and lead teams.
· Proven record of work in maintaining HGV vehicles.
· Extensive knowledge of transport servicing industry and trailer maintenance, industry standards and CVR testing.
· Knowledge in HGV Trailer ABS & EBS systems.
· Proven experience in managing and planning a workforce.
· A form of professional certification in welding, car or truck mechanical servicing, diagnostics, other structural tasks or similar.
· Technology literacy.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Excellent Time Management skills.
· Full, clean Category B & C drivers licence.
