Accounts Assistant
Blackrock College is a secondary day and boarding School. We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the Finance Department, involved in all aspects of the Accounts Function.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, work well in a team and have excellent attention to detail.
Salary range: €35,000 - €40,000
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm (flexibility required at peak periods during the year)
The position's main duties include:
- Process & manage all aspects of Accounts Payable and Creditor Control
- Process & manage all aspects of non-supplier payments
- Deal with staff and suppliers on approval process, allocation, and queries on invoices & transactions
- Process fees and non-fees receipts
- Manage cheques, cash and coin receipts. Lodgements to bank
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Deal with bank, payments and receipt queries.
- VAT, RCT and ERR reporting
- Manage and reconcile credit cards and employee expense card platform
- Use of and analysis of payment platforms and card readers
- Maintain petty cash book and reconciliation
- Assist with finance & general administrative duties
- Ad hoc duties as requested by Management
- Flexibility in working as part of the Finance & Administrative Team

Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Qualification or part qualified in a relevant financial discipline
- Previous experience in a finance role
- Good Team player - must enjoy being part of, and actively participating in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of numeracy and ability to present financial information clearly
- Computer knowledge: Microsoft Office applications – proficiency in Excel is essential
- Excellent attention to detail
- 3+ years experience of using accounts packages
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to reach deadlines
- Be self-motivated and highly organised, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
