BDO Ireland are looking for an ambitious, high-achieving Manager seeking a new challenge in a progressive and forward-thinking Audit Department.
This role involves managing a diverse portfolio of clients in Construction and Real Estate, acting as the primary point-of-contact and ensuring their expectations are met. Responsibilities include leading audit teams through planning and execution, coordinating international reporting, and managing financial performance. You will be part of an experienced management team, working within a team of 15, who are responsible for carrying out the audits of a large portfolio of clients across Construction and Real Estate sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage client expectations and be point-of-contact for clients. Working closely with Financial Controller/Director or Senior Executive levels in managing the audit specific requirements.
- Manage a portfolio of clients of variable sizes across Construction and Real Estate.
- Manage international reporting process both to Group Auditors and from Component Auditors
- Proactively manage client expectations and be point-of-contact for clients
- Coordinate and project manage the allocation of staff resources to jobs
- Lead teams on the planning; execution; and completion of audits
- Provide technical auditing and accounting assistance to team members and clients
- Report directly to partner/director on engagements
- Assist with managing the team’s financial performance e.g. agreeing and billing of fees; cash collections; monitoring recoverability of WIP etc
- Will be involved in the design and delivery of technical training
- Participate in the coaching, mentoring and appraisal of staff
- Manage and coordinate the pitch/proposals for new work
Relationships:
- Will develop strong working relationships with the managers and other members of the team
- Will actively collaborate with peers in other teams/departments
- Will be the main point of contact for a range of clients
- Will develop a good understanding of the firm’s core values and how they apply to our objectives/strategies. In particular how they impact our department and the part the job holder and our team plays in achieving them
- Will be sharing knowledge and experience with others including on the job training of more junior team members
- Will assist with the preparation of clients’ presentations including preparation of board reports and tender/proposal documents
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- ACA or ACCA qualification with 3+ years PQE.
- Can demonstrate strong technical auditing and accounting skills, including knowledge of the ISAs and accounting standards FRS 100 to FRS 102 and IFRS.
- Proven management skills and behaviours.
- A strong market/commercial awareness.
- Understands the operational aspects of managing an audit team and be accountable for results.
- Good communication skills will be key, as you will be required to deal with senior stakeholders internally and externally.
- Strong project management skills, particularly in relation to managing expectations of stakeholders.
- Positive attitude and a high level of personal drive to guide change initiatives and see them through to completion.
