Irish Building Supply are seeking to hire a Trade Counter Sales Advisor for its thriving builders merchant store and logistics hub in Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow which opened in 2022. About Irish Building Supply
Irish Building Supply is a family run independent builders merchants supplying quality building materials to the greater Dublin area for over 55 years. Our team supply builders, tradesmen, self-builders and D.I.Y enthusiasts. With a long-standing store and warehouse in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, the company expanded its presence in the North Wicklow area in 2022. The Kilcoole store is open Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm.
Role and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
· Customer management: serving customers at the Trade Counter and processing phone, email and web orders (cash or credit account) in an efficient manner
· Process incoming quotation requests and enquiries
· Building strong working relationships with customers in order to understand their requirements and actively managing key accounts
· Identifying sales opportunities and offering advice and solutions to customers to achieve maximum sales
· Maintaining a well merchandised store / shop area and liaising with suppliers as required
· Assisting with purchasing & goods inwards.
· Assisting with stock control, cycle counting and stock taking
· General upkeep of the store
· Liaising with the Warehouse and Yard staff
Educational/Experience
·Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) or higher educational qualification preferred
· Sales experience selling building materials or related industry preferred
· Strong industry and product knowledge (DIY and building materials products) preferred
Technical/Functional
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent customer service skills
· IT literacy preferred to include:
o Microsoft Office suite (MS Outlook, Word, Excel)
o POS/ERP system experience
Interpersonal Skills
· Positive, can-do attitude
· Ability to work well as part of a team
· Flexible, self-starting, and ambitious to achieve strong sales results
Additional Competencies
· Additional knowledge of construction/building materials is highly desirable
· Organized, and able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
· Proactive about addressing problems and proven problem-solving skills
