We have a fantastic new vacancy for a CNC Operator at Exergyn Ltd.
Job Summary
We seek an experienced CNC specialist who is equally adept at programming and operating 3-axis and 4-axis milling centres and at contributing hands-on to shop-floor activities. During machine idle periods, you will be required to support our team with machine assemblies, test-bed configurations, and general workshop tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, set, and operate Haas/Doosan or similar mills (ISO / G-code)
- Interpret complex 2D/3D drawings and develop CAM files; select tooling and fixturing for one-offs and small batches
- Own first-article inspection and in-process checks; update offsets to maintain <0.05 mm tolerances
- Carry out routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on machines
- Assemble electromechanical sub-assemblies and full machines from engineering drawings and SOPs
- Build and instrument test beds (rigging, sensors, pneumatics, data logging)
- Assist with goods-in QC, kitting, and stock-room organisation
- Improve shop-floor 7S and help document standard work procedures
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years’ proven CNC machining experience (milling essential; turning a plus)
- Comfortable switching between programming (Fusion 360/PowerMill/Edgecam or similar) and hands-on setup
- Strong mechanical assembly skills; able to read exploded diagrams, BoMs, pneumatic/hydraulic schematics
- Solid understanding of GD&T, materials and cutting parameters
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and lean/7S principles
- Ability to lift/move components up to 25 kg and work on your feet for extended periods
- Full EU work authorisation
- Fluent English
Ideally someone with:
- Basic electrical panel wiring knowledge
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality environments
- Fork-lift or MEWP licence
