As an Engineering Manager, you will manage and support your engineering team through effective proactive leadership
The purpose of the Engineering Manager role is to manage, lead and motivate the Engineering team, to ensure delivery of top quality and efficient product and service to our customers. The role of the Engineering Manager will also be to support a safe manufacturing process, while engaging closely with the production and quality teams.
This role will be responsible for both the day-to-day management and coordination of engineering support within the plant, as well as being a leader and key player for Engineering projects and plant improvement initiatives.
This is office-based role that requires periodic and ad hoc visits to customers.
Duties and responsibilities as part of this role include:
- To provide technical engineering leadership in product and process matters
- Engage with and advise clients through the various product design stages.
- Deliver and achieve approved design solutions to client teams and communicate these to the production and quality team.
- To plan schedule all engineering work, ensuring continual prioritisation and re-prioritisation of work and activities, fostering a proactive culture within the team, while remaining reactive and supportive of adaptability.
- Implement robust systems to enhance the reliability of manufacturing processes, participating in the continuous development of systems, including the revision of standard operating procedures (SOP's), scheduling and workflow development.
- To engage in data-driven identification of areas for improvement and drive continuous enhancement in process performance.
- Problem solve to solution level, with a structured approach, using the team, complete all associated planning and design validation activity required to achieve the desired outcome.
- Deliver solutions to enhance product reliability and process capability.
- Lead projects to drive continuous improvement in key metrics in alignment with Lean, 6 Sigma, Design Robustness and Problem-Solving Principles
- Ensure that engineering & safety standards, including all electrical standards, are maintained to legal and company standards.
- Management and maintenance of all manufacturing equipment in line with industry standards and requirements, and in line with customer needs.
- Work with manufacturing operations to improve and manage plant OEE, maintaining ownership of reporting on same.
- Analysing operational results through the analysis of downtime, spoilage and efficiency, to manage engineering solution to improve the plants performance.
- Identify areas of problems/opportunities in existing equipment.
- Work with the Engineering team to develop and improve the procedural documentation for Engineering actions, tasks, maintenance activities and breakdowns.
- Liaise with vendors in procuring and improving equipment and services.
- Manage and improve the preventative maintenance system.

Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelors Level Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum two years' experience in a management role - people and project management experience is essential.
- Experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment is required.
- Proven experience in planning, problem solving, with knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and delivery of same.
- Strong communication, inter-personal and time-management experience is essential.
KPI's of the Role
- Compliance and adherence to all legislative and safety obligations and regulations.
- Plant OEE ratings and scores - effective management of all responsible contributing factors to OEE.
- Delivery of Projects in line with timelines and planned outcomes.
- Ensuring that all administrative records for the department are maintained and up to date.
