Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Manager

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance operations of our fleet of 100 + commercial vehicles, workshops and support transport assets across multiple depots in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring fleet compliance with Irish regulations, optimizing maintenance schedules, and overseeing technical teams to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of all vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fleet Maintenance Management
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules in line with RSA requirements & standards.
- Ensure all vehicles and trailers undergo timely inspections, servicing, testing (CVRT), and repairs.
- Monitor fleet health and diagnostics using telematics and maintenance software.
- Manage breakdown response procedures and minimise vehicle downtime.
2. Compliance & Safety
- Maintain compliance with RSA, Health and Safety Authority (HSA), ADR regulations, and environmental legislation.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance, servicing, and inspections for audits.
- Oversee the implementation of safety campaigns, vehicle checks, and risk assessments.
3. Budgeting and Cost Control
- Prepare and manage the fleet maintenance budget, controlling costs without compromising safety.
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts with external service providers and parts suppliers.
- Monitor and report on KPIs including fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and vehicle availability.
4. Team Leadership
- Lead and motivate a team of mechanics & support staff across multiple sites.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Ensure effective communication between maintenance, transport, and operations teams.
5. Strategic Development
- Recommend and implement improvements in maintenance systems, technologies, and fleet reliability.
- Support fleet replacement planning, procurement specifications, and life-cycle costing.
- Stay updated on industry trends in fuel efficiency, EV and hybrid fleet developments, and sustainability practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance management, ideally within transport, fuel, or logistics sectors.
- Technical knowledge in motor vehicle maintenance
- Strong knowledge of Irish transport legislation, ADR standards, and RSA compliance.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience with oil/fuel tanker fleets and hazardous materials (ADR).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office packages
- CPC in Transport Management (or willingness to obtain).
- Full clean driving licence (C licence an advantage).
