We are seeking an experienced medical secretary / receptionist to join our team in a busy GP practice in Dublin 7. This role is 4 days / 32 hours per week (days required are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week (Wednesday off)).

Skills and experience required:
- Previous experience (minimum 3 years) in a busy medical practice or varied, customer-facing administrative role.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and a positive team-player.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to multi-task within a busy environment.
- Able to work on your own initiative and to prioritise workload; flexibility to cross-cover holiday periods and additional hours will be an advantage
- Clear understanding of and strong ethos of confidentiality.
- Professional attitude and high standard of personal presentation at all times; Punctual, reliable and self-motivated.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with patients, colleagues, clients etc.
- Ability to manage patient expectations and deal with conflict and challenging behaviour in a calm, professional, appropriate manner.
- Excellent IT Skills including patient management systems (for example Socrates) and Microsoft Office packages.
Duties of the role include (full job description available by request):
- Liaising with patients on the telephone and in person and managing patient enquiries.
- Answering calls and taking accurate records of call content, including passing on of information and messages.
- Scheduling and managing patient appointments in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Issuing correspondence and documentation in an accurate and timely fashion as necessary.
- Updating and maintaining patient records, including computerised and paper-based as appropriate.
- Accepting and processing post, email, deliveries; sorting, scanning and filing correspondence as appropriate.
- Follow practice procedures and policies and participate in quality improvement to increase efficiency and effectiveness
- Process, manage and follow up third party requests in accordance with practice procedures.
- Process claims and returns.
- Researching and compiling information.

Pay: €15.00-€17.00 per hour
