Role Overview:
Master Chefs is seeking a dynamic and experienced Healthcare Catering Transition Manager to oversee the integration and upskilling of employed catering staff during the mobilisation of a new healthcare catering contract. This mentoring-focused role is vital to ensuring a smooth transition and the successful delivery of Master Chefs’ high-quality, patient-focused catering service within an existing hospital team.
The Transition Manager will be based on-site full-time for an initial 6-month period and will act as the bridge between Master Chefs' service model and the retained catering staff. This role requires strong leadership, people skills, healthcare compliance knowledge, and the ability to coach, support, and guide others in a collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the on-site operational integration of the catering team into Master Chefs' service model
- Act as mentor and coach to the Catering Services Manager and wider catering team, promoting best practices, standards, and procedures
- Ensure day-to-day service delivery aligns with contractual obligations, food safety regulations, and patient care expectations
- Support the Catering Services Manager in adapting to an upscaled service model and broader workforce responsibilities
- Build leadership capability within the chef team, encouraging consistency, accountability, and professional growth
- Work collaboratively with both hospital management and Master Chefs’ operations team to ensure alignment and transparency
- Facilitate training, development, and performance improvement plans for catering staff as required
- Lead daily briefings, service planning, and team engagement initiatives
- Monitor service performance, escalate challenges where appropriate, and contribute to quality assurance processes
- Foster a positive, inclusive team culture with a focus on morale, shared goals, and respectful collaboration
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in a leadership or operations role within healthcare, hospitality, or contract catering
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards, infection prevention, and healthcare-specific catering protocols
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence and mentor across various levels
- Demonstrated ability to manage change and build trust in transitioning environments
- Experience working within multi-stakeholder settings (e.g., client teams, HR, operations, compliance)
- Ability to lead by example, with a calm, supportive, and people-first approach
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Desirable:
- Training qualification or background in staff development or coaching
- Experience working on service mobilisation or contract handovers in healthcare environments
- Understanding of sustainability practices in catering and foodservice
NOTE: This role may evolve within Master Chefs to become a permanent position.

Pay: €5,000.00-€6,000.00 per month
