Job Description: Night Assistant Manager
Reporting To: Nights Manager / Operations Manager
Job Purpose
The Night Assistant Manager is the senior leader on duty overnight, responsible for the safety, security, and smooth running of the Midlands Park Hotel. This role ensures the delivery of exceptional guest service, effective management of night staff, and accurate completion of hotel operations including financial, administrative, and security processes. Acting as the hotel’s representative during the night, the Night Assistant Manager makes operational decisions, resolves guest and staff issues, and ensures the hotel is prepared for the next day’s business.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the night team, ensuring all duties are carried out efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively, set clear expectations, and ensure accountability within the team.
- Conduct coaching and training to develop staff skills and service delivery.
- Provide performance feedback, report disciplinary issues, and support HR processes as required.
- Ensure a culture of professionalism, respect, and excellent guest care is maintained at all times.
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Act as the most senior point of contact overnight, handling guest queries, complaints, and special requests with authority and professionalism.
- Anticipate guest needs and ensure services are delivered promptly and personally.
- Uphold and exceed service standards, ensuring every guest has a safe, comfortable, and memorable stay.
- Personally manage high-profile or VIP arrivals/departures when required.
Operational & Financial Accountability
- Oversee and complete the night audit, including reconciliation of accounts, cash handling, and preparation of financial reports.
- Ensure all hotel systems are updated, accurate, and ready for the following day’s business.
- Manage stock controls for bar, supplies, and equipment during the night shift.
- Ensure the hotel is set up and operationally ready for morning service, including conferences, banquets, and breakfast operations.
- Maintain accurate incident reports, handovers, and operational records.
Security, Safety & Compliance
- Take full responsibility for hotel security overnight, conducting regular patrols and ensuring all access points are secured.
- Lead the response to emergencies, evacuations, and first aid incidents.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety policies, and fire regulations.
- Record and communicate incidents, hazards, and risks to senior management.
Communication & Collaboration
- Provide thorough handovers to the early shift, ensuring continuity of service and operations.
- Maintain open communication with other department heads to ensure seamless cross-departmental support.
- Attend management meetings and represent the night team within the wider hotel leadership structure.

- Strong organisational and multitasking ability.
- Financial and administrative competence, including cash handling and auditing.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and authoritative under pressure.
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations, safety, and compliance standards.
- The candidate will contribute to delivering excellent guest experiences by supporting the team with a variety of service and operational tasks, including but not limited to preparing conference rooms, serving beverages, maintaining clean and welcoming premises, and assisting with room setup.
