Job Description
About this job:
- We are seeking a dynamic, customer-focused, and solution-oriented Senior Cloud Architect to join our Cloud & Digital Workplace Team. Reporting to the Head of Cloud & Digital Workplace CoE, you will be based in our Dublin office.
- As the owner of PartnerRe's Cloud Architecture and DevSecOps practices, your primary mission is to design, implement, and manage the company's cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and cost efficiency. This strategic role involves developing and integrating cloud services, overseeing cloud governance and adoption processes, you will closely collaborate with application development and infrastructure teams to align cloud solutions with business objectives.
About the role:
- Define, evolve and maintain cloud architecture, strategy, principles, guidelines, and standards and integrate new cloud services.
- Take ownership of the DevOps discipline and guarantee seamless incorporation of DevSecOps into both application development and infrastructure teams.
- Maintain and evolve reference cloud solution architectures, support application development teams in the implementation.
- Lead application modernization efforts (containerization, microservices); define cloud-native architecture styles and patterns.
- Hands-on cloud engineering: assess and implement new cloud services based on application development and operational requirements.
- Provide second-level operational support to application development and infrastructure operation teams.
- Coach application developers in best practice cloud-native development, standards and with cloud native tools.
- Manage a team of platform engineers managing services implementation.
Qualifications
About you:
Technical Skills/Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud (experience with other cloud environments is a plus)
- Solid understanding of DevSecOps concepts (continuous integration, continuous delivery, Infrastructure as Code, containerization)
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience working with various cloud services, ranging from virtual machines to Azure Kubernetes Services and Azure AI Services
- Extensive exprience working with DevOps tools and platforms (Azure DevOps,GitHub, GitLab, Terraform, AKS)
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#
- Understanding of networking, security, and database management

- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
- Leadership and team management capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written English skills, knowledge in French and German are a plus.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience, development background and experience as a cloud architect
- Experience with cloud migration, cloud strategy and design, and cloud cost optimization
- Background in cloud and/or software engineering is a plus
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
- Certifications in cloud technologies can be highly beneficial.
