Role Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer for Off-Site MEP and Plantroom Assembly is responsible for overseeing the assembly and integration of mechanical systems within prefabricated MEP modules and plantrooms. This role ensures the proper installation, testing, and quality control of mechanical components, including pipework, pumps, heat exchangers, and associated equipment, in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee the assembly of mechanical systems, including piping, valves, fittings, pumps, heat exchangers, and other plantroom equipment within MEP modules and plantrooms, ensuring they are installed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance to the assembly team to ensure compliance with mechanical drawings, specifications, and project requirements for plantrooms and modular systems.
  • Ensure the correct alignment, placement, and installation of mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems in plantrooms, with consideration for future maintenance access.
  • Conduct inspections of mechanical components during and after assembly, focusing on critical systems such as plantroom equipment and integrated MEP components.
  • Perform dimensional checks, verify proper alignment, and inspect the placement of mechanical components in both MEP modules and plantrooms.
  • Inspect materials and components, ensuring that all mechanical systems meet quality and project specifications.
  • Ensure all piping, valves, and equipment are labelled and tagged in accordance with the mechanical schematic and project naming conventions.
  • Witness and document pneumatic pressure testing and leak detection for pipework and mechanical systems in plantrooms and MEP modules.
  • Use FieldView or other inspection tools to document inspection results and log any issues or discrepancies.
  • Identify and document any snags during the assembly process, including incorrect installations, missing components, or quality issues related to MEP systems and plantroom equipment.
  • Record all snags using FieldView, along with descriptions, photos, and required corrective actions.
  • Ensure all snags are resolved and updates are recorded in FieldView prior to final sign-off.
  • Collaborate closely with design and fabrication teams to ensure that mechanical systems in plantrooms and MEP modules align with approved designs.
  • Provide feedback to designers on potential improvements in assembly processes, especially related to plantroom layout and integration of mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (electrical, plumbing) to ensure seamless system integration within plantrooms and modular MEP assemblies.
  • Assist with testing and validation of mechanical systems within plantrooms and MEP modules before they are transported to site.
  • Ensure that all mechanical systems, including pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, and chillers, pass relevant pressure tests, flow tests, and leak tests.
  • Complete pre-commissioning checks to verify that all mechanical systems are ready for final commissioning.
  • Prepare test reports and ensure all mechanical systems in plantrooms and modules are fully operational for on-site commissioning.
  • Maintain accurate records of the assembly process, including inspections, tests, and snagging documentation for plantrooms and MEP modules.
  • Provide regular progress updates to project managers and site supervisors, highlighting any issues or delays related to plantroom and module assembly.
  • Submit final documentation for inspections and tests upon completion of assembly, including plantroom systems.


What You Need to Have:


  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in MEP systems and plantroom design or modular construction.
  • Hands-on experience with the assembly and installation of mechanical systems such as piping, pumps, heat exchangers, and HVAC components in both plantrooms and MEP modules.
  • Full Driving License

What You Would Ideally Have:
  • Relevant professional certifications in mechanical engineering (e.g., HVAC systems, piping, plantroom equipment).
  • Relevant safety certifications are an advantage.
