Reporting to the CEO, the main responsibilities of the Lending Manager are to:
- Oversee and lead the Lending and business development / marketing functions.
- Assess and approve loans in accordance with the regulations and credit policy.
- Ensure the appropriate credit policies, systems, procedures and practices are operating efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure compliance of the overall lending function within the parameters of the credit policy, risk appetite and regulations.
- Review the loan portfolio regularly to identify emerging risks, trends or opportunities for growth.
- Develop new lending products, prepare analysis and business cases for approval that are consistent with the overall credit union ethos.
- Build a roadmap of strategic and tactical opportunities to develop the product set of the credit union.
- Take responsibility for the motivation, performance management and personal development of the lending team.
- Provide timely and adequate management reporting and develop KPIs to support the role.
- Attend board and committee meetings as requested by the CEO or board and report (verbally and in writing) on aspects of credit union operation, where required.
- Monitor product and service uptake in lending, identify trends, make recommendations and prepare detailed and costed proposals to enhance lending.
- Manage the rollout of new lending products and services.
- Manage the credit union’s relationship with all relevant external agencies related to lending.
- Contribute as part of the management team to the overall development of the credit union.
- Assist the CEO in the implementation of board policies and directives.
- Take responsibility for all areas of internal control management in lending, including contributing to maintenance and enhancement of policies, procedures, standards and controls and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Assess loan applications, particularly in relation to mortgage, SME, sole trader, and agri lending.
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of five years’ experience working in a lending function in Ireland / EU.
- Minimum QFA or APA (Loans) qualification is required that meets the minimum competency requirements of the Central Bank of Ireland.
- Experience in personal, SME / agri and mortgage lending.
- A track record of service delivery and business growth.
- Exceptional people management and motivational skills.
- A detailed knowledge and understanding of credit unions, their operating principles and ethos.
The position of Lending Manager is a Controlled Function (CF) subject to the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness & Probity Standards and Minimum Competency Requirements.
Salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
