Job Title: Group Payroll Officer
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-focused Group Payroll Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be IPASS qualified (or equivalent), with at least 5 years’ experience in high-volume payroll processing within a production or manufacturing environment. You will manage end-to-end payroll for 400 + employees across both the Republic of Ireland (ROI) and Northern Ireland (NI), ensuring compliance with all statutory and company requirements.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The role will report to the Group HR Manager for day-to-day operations with a functional reporting line to the Financial Controller. While primarily based in Mountrath, Co. Laois some flexibility will be required to support other subsidiaries as needed.
Duties will include:
- End-to-end processing of payroll for 400 + employees across ROI and NI
- Ensure accurate calculation and timely payment of wages, salaries, taxes, and contributions
- Maintain and update payroll records in accordance with legal and audit requirements
- Submit all statutory returns (PAYE, PRSI, USC, NIC, etc.) accurately and on time
- Calculate and process Benefits-in-Kind (BIK) in line with current legislation
- Administer company pension schemes, including processing contributions and liaising with providers
- Assist with monthly payroll reconciliations, and support the preparation of payroll-related financial reports
- Liaise with the Finance team to prepare and post payroll journals
- Handle employee queries in a professional and timely manner
- Liaise with HR and Finance to ensure smooth integration of data and reporting
- Prepare payroll-related reports and analytics for management and finance teams
- Maintain up-to-date payroll legislation and employment law across ROI and NI
- Support internal and external payroll audits
- Commit to continuous learning through active participation in training and development
- Support the HR and Finance teams with ad hoc duties and projects as required
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in high-volume payroll processing, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment
- Hold a recognised payroll qualification such as IPASS (or equivalent) desirable
- Proven experience processing payroll in both ROI and NI
- Experience using Collsoft (Payroll) and Softworks (Time Management System)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; confident liaising with various teams
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Experience supporting operations across multiple sites
- Proven ability to work with busy departments simultaneously
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail is critical to success in this role
